The United Nations describes climate change as the defining issue of our time. In our sustainability policy, we acknowledge that sustainability requires an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and provide a clear statement of our intent to incorporate sustainability into all aspects of our business planning and operations. Working at forefront of Australian businesses clean energy and net zero transition we believe in the importance of practicing what we preach.
Proudly carbon neutral since 2008
We are proud of our history. In June 2008, Energetics became one of Australia’s first consulting firms to achieve carbon neutrality through the Australian Government’s Greenhouse Friendly Program. Since the 2019 reporting year, our carbon neutrality has been certified under the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard for ‘Organisations’ and ‘Services and Products’. We use offsets which are rigorous and defendable, of adequate vintage, preferably less than 24 months old, and which are raised from a robust and transparent framework.
In 2021, our science-based target was verified by the global Science Based Targets initiative. We committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% before the year 2030 (from a 2018 base year), and to measure and reduce our scope 3 emissions. Our target is in line with the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C.
