The CEEC Mineral Processing and Innovation Workshop provided an exciting opportunity for miners, METS, researchers, policy makers and others to network, collaborate and take away new ideas.
Energetics’ Dr Mary Stewart addressed CEEC’s Minerals Processing and Innovation Workshop on the topic . The audience enjoyed her pragmatic interpretation of energy contracts particularly in highlighting what your energy dollar buys (kWh vs kVA vs fixed costs). The need to address energy costs as a non-linear factor in process selection and optimisation was new information for a lot of the audience. She spoke about contracts (PPAs) with renewable energy generators and their role in firming long term energy prices. She highlighted the value of renewables at end of mine life. Mary was a reviewer for ARENA’s handbook on the hybridisation of power generation for mine sites.
