• Data collection – Energetics manages the collection and receipt of utility bills, and ensures that other data streams such as interval data are processed in a timely and thorough manner. All data streams are captured, normalised, and centralised. Normalisation is key to ensuring that the thousands of ways that utilities across the country represent data on bills, appear in one form   in reports, and data from site to site and year to year can be easily compared.
• Bill validation – energy and utility bills are particularly complex, due to varying naming conventions for similar items from one supplier to another, multi-level time dependent tariffs, and a proliferation of ad-hoc charges. Systematic, expert review and validation of utility bills typically yields significant dollar savings, often covering the cost of Energetics services. CarbonScope’s bill validation service encompasses:
  • trapping potential billing errors using multi-point checks and algorithms;
  • investigating potential issues with suppliers, and realising savings;
  • recording potential and actual savings via on-line reports.   
• Bill payment file – once bills have been validated and supplier issues resolved, Energetics produces a regular “good-to-pay” billing file that summarises all of the utility bills ready for payment, and when those bills need to be paid. This file can be delivered in a variety of formats for automatic upload into almost any accounts payable system. 
• Utility management – in addition to resolving billing issues with suppliers, there are a number of administration responsibilities associated with suppliers, ranging from the management of planned connections and disconnections, changing of suppliers, managing annual rate adjustments, handling and escalating special notices. Utility management is a core part of Energetics’ service offering.
