Peter Sherman will lead workshop at Power Pricing 2013 Conference

Principal Consultant, Peter Sherman will lead a full day workshop at the upcoming Power Pricing 2013 Conference in Sydney.

The workshop, titled “Operating optimally in Australia’s power market - analysing the changing energy landscape and alternate contracting options”, will leave participants with the ability to make more informed decisions around contract options, recognising the risks associated with the consequences of their decisions.

Australia’s energy landscape is rapidly evolving in response to economic conditions, government programs and rising price pressures. The options available to manage exposure to energy prices have increased. Understanding this changing landscape is crucial for Australian energy users, industry participants and government bodies.

The workshop will:

  • Analyse the changing Australian energy landscape
  • Develop an outlook for power prices
  • Explore advanced procurement strategies – who do they suit?
  • Understanding potential savings and impact on budget certainty.
  • Investigate how load flexibility can be utilized to reduce electricity costs.
  • Help participants manage risk in a changing energy environment

Peter Sherman, is responsible for Energetics’ national team of energy and carbon market experts. The team assists a large portfolio of clients in understanding and managing their exposure to energy price and carbon cost. Peter’s experience since the deregulation of the national electricity market in the late 90’s gives him a thorough understanding of business drivers for industry participants and large corporates. Prior to joining Energetics, Peter worked as a senior member of a number of energy trading teams to develop and implement energy strategy at Alinta Energy, CS Energy, Sun Retail, Ergon and AGL. He played a key role in positioning those companies to take advantage of the electricity, renewable and carbon markets as they have emerged.

The theme of the Power Pricing 2013 Conference is ‘Grappling with power price rises – analysing response options – collaboration with consumers’. The event will be held in Sydney from 22 – 24 May 2013.
