Victorian electricity network increases and the impact on invoices

Below are the updated electricity network increases which came into effect from 1 January 2013. The table shows average rate increases by network based on Energetics’ tariff analysis. 

In short, Jemena, SP Ausnet and United Energy have been hit with larger than expected increases (ranging from ~11% to 23%) this year. In comparison CitiPower and Powercor (which experienced average increases of 23% and 33% respectively last year) will see minimal increases (<1%).

The increases shown above can vary depending on which network tariff is being applied to a site's invoices. Although network prices are regulated, most customers will have a choice of tariff that can be applied to billing.
