CARBON POLLUTION REDUCTION SCHEME
Government committed to emissions trading scheme
Despite media reports speculating that the emissions trading scheme may be blocked in the Senate by the Opposition and the Greens, or abandoned in the face of the economic downturn, the Minister for Climate Change and Water, Penny Wong, stated on ABC Radio yesterday: "We believe that a market mechanism such as a carbon pollution reduction scheme is the most cost-effective way of reducing Australia's carbon pollution."
