June 2002 Newsletter - The NSW Greenhouse Benchmarking Scheme
In May the NSW government made amendments to introduce an enforceable "Greenhouse Benchmarking Scheme" for electricity retailers.
The Greenhouse Benchmarking Scheme is set to reduce greenhouse gases released from electricity generation by 5% from 1989/90 levels by 2007. This scheme will commence on 1 January 2003, and has been set up with penalties to encourage compliance from retailers.
